Our General Liability policy is designed to cover you should you the individual coach should you be accused of injuring someone or causing damage to their property.

Depending upon the sport or activity you are involved in, General Liability might not a legal requirement but may be a requirement of a governing body, local authority or facility provider. Even if it is not compulsory we would normally strongly recommend General Liability Insurance to all those involved in Coaching activities.

You should make sure you understand what is covered by your policy as some policies are more comprehensive than others. Some policies have restrictions regarding player to player or member to member injuries and some will exclude any injuries to sporting participants even if you are at fault. Alternatively, some policies might cover your primary sporting, dance or leisure activities but not for any associated social activities. Our policies covers all of this.

Many Coaches upgrade their skill level or get recertified on an annual basis. It is this type of risk management or health & safety that reduces the likelihood and severity of a claim. If you are involved with more dangerous activities this can become more important and could not only determine how much your insurance costs but whether you can actually obtain cover at all.

Why do we include Professional Liability insurance?

Coaching is not a regulated profession in most parts of the world or Canada so many coaches assume they do not need professional liability insurance. That is not necessarily true.  Coaches are even more important than ever today as Athletes consider coaches to be professional and rely on their expertise.

Coverage is inexpensive and while you may never have to utilize it, you can rest a bit easier as you build your practice and sharpen your professional skills.
